The structure is built out of a human friendly pressure treated wood called "Kodiak". First I had a hole dug because I wanted to put 55 gallon drums in the ground to keep a water reserve for an automattic sprinkler system. The foundation for the greenhouse was built out of 4X4s 3 high with a 1/4" wire mesh about 6" up the outside of the 4X4s and 1 1/2' into the greenhouse floor. All of the wood above the foundation I primed and painted white. The exterior walls that face the North and the East are finished with plywood, Styrofoam & clapboards to match the house. There is 3/8" fan-fold styrofoam between the studs and the plywood. I also placed 3/4" of styrofoam between the studs. The roof and the other two walls are finished with plastic glazing that I purchased over a year ago. When this breaks down I plan to replace the plastic with polycarbinate. The roof of the structure is a 3/4 roof for two reasons. First it allowed me to increase the height of the back wall and allowed more sunlight to enter. The entire frame is 2X4 Kodiak wood. Part of the greenhouse is built on part of my garden and that is why you see my garden fence in the picture above.
